Ankara: Flash floods that have swept through towns in the Turkish Black Sea region have killed 62 people, authorities said on Sunday, as search and rescue efforts to find missing people continued.

Floods caused by heavy rain hit the Black Sea region in the north of the country on Wednesday, leaving 54 people dead in the province of Kastamonu, Turkey’s Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) said in a statement reported by Anadolu Agency.

Nine others died in the Sinop province and one more person in the Bartin province.

According to a statement by the governor’s office in Bartin, 13 bridges were destroyed in the flood, while at least 45 buildings were heavily damaged.

A total of 62 people are reported missing in Kastamonu, with 14 others in Sinop, Turkish Interior Minister Suleyman Soylu said on Saturday.

A total of 359 people in Bartin, 1,480 in Kastamonu, and 539 in Sinop were evacuated to safe areas by helicopters and boats, AFAD said.

وأفادت إدارة الكوارث والطوارئ التركية /آفاد/، في بيان، بأن السيول والفيضانات أودت بحياة 52 شخصا في /قسطمونو/، و9 في /سينوب/، و1 في /بارطن/.

وأشارت إلى استمرار علاج 8 مصابين في المستشفيات.

وفي وقت سابق أعلنت الإدارة إجلاء 323 شخصا في /بارطن/ و925 آخرين في /قسطمونو/ و472 في /سينوب/.

وكانت الحصيلة السابقة تحدثت عن مقتل 40 شخصا.

وشهدت أجزاء تركيا الشمالية أمطارا غزيرة في الأيام الأخيرة، أدت إلى سيول وفيضانات بولايات /قسطمونو/ و/سينوب/ و/بارطن/.
