Ashghal launches Roads and Infrastructure Project in Al Sheehaniya, Package 1

Doha: The Public Works Authority Ashghal announced the commencement of development works on the Roads and Infrastructure Project in Al Sheehaniya, Package 1, which aims to develop local internal streets with high safety performance as well as infrastructure utilities. This will enable the citizens to build their own houses and the new project will cater to their needs as well as cope with urban growth in the future.

This project is being implemented by Al Jaber Engineering Company, at a cost of approx. QAR 315.5 million, as part of the Citizens Subdivision Infrastructure Programme which is implemented by “Ashghal.” The Programme involves a number of development projects which are distributed all around Qatar.

The project is located in Al Sheehaniya area, to the south of Dukhan Highway, and about 34 km to the northwest of Doha city center. Project works are divided into four geographical zones which will be carried out successively, and the duration of each phase is set to one year each, where the project is scheduled to be fully completed in the 2nd quarter of 2024.

Ashghals Head of Western Areas Section in the Roads Projects Department Eng. Fahad Muhammad Al Otaibi said that: “upon completion, the project will serve 322 citizens plots in Al Sheehaniya. It will provide fully developed infrastructure utilities comprising a road network of local streets and pedestrian and cycle paths as well as drainage network. The project will enhance traffic flow in the area and provide connectivity with public facilities to cope with the residents requirements in the future.”

“The projects scope of works involves developing and constructing a road network at a total length of 10 km, whilst providing traffic safety elements such as street lighting systems and poles, directional signage and road markings. Moreover, 2500 car parking bays will be provided, in addition to shared pedestrian and cycle paths at a total length of 18.5 Km,” he added.

Furthermore, the projects scope involves the construction of a 13.4 km-long foul sewer network, a 23.6 km-long surface water drainage network, a 7.9 km-long TSE network, and a 7.7 km-long potable water network. New sanitary sewers will be installed and connected to the main foul sewer network. Construction works will also include emergency flood lagoons on both sides of Dukhan Highway, with a total capacity of 386,000 cubic meters, to reduce water accumulation during the rainy season.

الدوحة: بدأت هيئة الأشغال العامة “أشغال” تنفيذ أعمال مشروع تطوير الطرق والبنية التحتية في منطقة الشيحانية، الحزمة الأولى، بتكلفة تبلغ حوالي 315 مليونا و511 ألف ريال قطري، ويهدف إلى تطوير الشوارع الداخلية وخدمات البنية التحتية استجابة لمتطلبات المواطنين والنمو العمراني بالمنطقة.

يقع المشروع في منطقة الشيحانية، على مسافة حوالي 34 كم شمال غرب الدوحة وجنوب طريق دخان. وقد تم تقسيم أعمال المشروع إلى أربع مناطق جغرافية يتم العمل بها على التوالي ويستغرق تنفيذ كل مرحلة عاماً واحداً، ومن المخطط أن يتم الانتهاء من تنفيذ كافة أعمال المشروع في الربع الثاني من عام 2024.

وأوضح المهندس فهد محمد العتيبي، من إدارة مشروعات الطرق في “أشغال”، أن المشروع يخدم عند اكتماله 322 قسيمة لأراضي المواطنين وسيعمل على توفير خدمات متطورة للبنية التحتية من شبكات الصرف الصحي والطرق والشوارع الداخلية والممرات المخصصة للمشاة والدراجات الهوائية والتي من شأنها تعزيز انسيابية الحركة المرورية وتوفير الربط مع المرافق العامة بما يستجيب لمتطلبات السكان مستقبلاً.

وأضاف أنه سيتم من خلال المشروع تطوير وإنشاء شبكة طرق بطول 10 كيلومترات مع توفير عناصر السلامة المرورية من أنظمة وأعمدة إنارة للشوارع، ولوحات إرشادية وعلامات الطريق إلى جانب إنشاء 2500 موقف للسيارات. كما سيتم توفير مسارات مشتركة للمشاة والدراجات الهوائية بطول حوالي 18.5 كيلومتر.

وتابع بأنه سيتم ضمن نطاق المشروع أيضاً إنشاء شبكة صرف صحي بطول 13.4 كيلومتر وشبكة صرف للمياه السطحية بطول 23.6 كيلومتر، وشبكة للمياه المعالجة بطول 7.9 كيلومتر بالإضافة إلى شبكة مياه شرب بطول 7.7 كيلومتر. كما سيتم أيضاً تمديد أنابيب الصرف الجديدة وربطها بشبكة الصرف الصحي الرئيسية، فضلاً عن إنشاء بحيرات على جانبي طريق دخان لتخزين مياه الأمطار لأغراض الطوارئ بسعة 386 ألف متر مكعب بهدف تقليل تجمع المياه خلال موسم الأمطار.
