Qatar National Chess Team Wins Seven Victories at the 28th Edition of Abu Dhabi International Festival

Doha: The Qatari chess team won seven victories in the competitions of the 28th edition of the Abu Dhabi International Festival, which will last until the twenty-sixth of this month, with the participation of about 1,000 players representing 54 countries.

In the open chess category, Qatar national team player Abdullah Al-Hamid managed to raise his score to three points after beating his Tajik counterpart Sharifi Mansour, Indian player Ramesh Nair Advit, and Czech Marial.

In turn, player Saad Al-Sulaiti managed to bypass his Syrian counterpart Janbaz Zaher, while his team-mate Ryan Irfan beat his Chinese rival Gu Xiaoyuan at the end of the third round.

In the Under-16 category, Khalid Al-Jumaat managed to win on two occasions at the expense of Indian Arif Goyal and his rival Morya Vidya, while losing to Indian Morya Vidya.

Qatari national team player Ibrahim Al Janahi drew against American Leo Leonard, and against Emirati Hamid Al Hassani, and lost the third meeting to his Bahraini rival Obaid Abdulrahman.

Secretary General of the Qatar Chess Federation Yousef Mohammed Al Mutawa stressed the importance of participating in these competitions in light of the participation of the stars of the game in the world, considering participation in this type of events will provide players with great experiences, and will also contribute to increasing the international classification of players, and to find out their levels for future benefits.

He pointed out in a press statement today that the Qatari Federation will seek to intensify the continuous external participation of the national team, and there is a technical action plan that will enable the teams to achieve a qualitative leap in the game in the next few years.

“Our goal is to achieve good results in these competitions, and to reach an advanced position in the overall standings by collecting as many points as possible, and we look forward in the coming period to equipping a Qatari national team capable of having an honorable presence in the regional and Asian championships,”he concluded.

The total prize of the festival is 300 thousand dirhams, and its events include 11 different championships, commensurate with the levels and age categories of participants, led by the Masters Championship, and a constellation of elite international players, most notably Chinese Wang Hao, as well as the Russian second ranking Sinan Jogirov, winner of the European Youth and World Junior Championships, the third ranking Evgeny Tomashevsky from Russia, the world champion in the youth category, the Russian fourth ranking Alexander Bredak, the champion of the Russian Federation, the champion of the 21st edition of the festival, and the sixth ranking Arjun Erigaisi from India, and the Egyptian seventh ranked Basem Amin, the Arab champion.

الدوحة: حصد المنتخب القطري للشطرنج سبعة انتصارات في منافسات النسخة الـ 28 من مهرجان أبوظبي الدولي، التي تستمر حتى السادس والعشرين من الشهر الجاري، بمشاركة قرابة 1000 لاعب ولاعبة يمثلون 54 دولة.

ففي منافسات فئة الشطرنج المفتوح تمكن لاعب المنتخب القطري عبدالله الحميد من رفع رصيده إلى ثلاث نقاط بعد تغلبه على نظيره الطاجيكي شريفي منصور، وعلى اللاعب الهندي راميش ناير أدفيت، وعلى التشيكي ماريال.

بدوره نجح اللاعب سعد السليطي بتجاوز نظيره السوري جانباز زاهر، فيما تغلب زميله في المنتخب ريان عرفان على منافسه الصيني جو شياويوان مع ختام الجولة الثالثة.

وفي فئة تحت 16 عاما تمكن اللاعب خالد الجمعات من تحقيق الفوز في مناسبتين على حساب كل من الهندي عارف جويال ومواطنه موريا فيديا، بينما تعرض للخسارة في مواجهته أمام الهندي موريا فيديا.

بدوره، تعادل لاعب المنتخب القطري إبراهيم الجناحي أمام الأمريكي ليو ليونارد، وأمام الإماراتي حميد الحساني، وخسر اللقاء الثالث أمام منافسه البحريني عبيد عبدالرحمن.

وأكد السيد يوسف محمد المطوع، أمين السر العام في الاتحاد القطري للشطرنج، على أهمية المشاركة في هذه المنافسات في ظل مشاركة نجوم اللعبة في العالم، معتبرا المشاركة في هذا النوع من المناسبات كفيلة بإكساب اللاعبين الخبرات الكبيرة، كما ستسهم في زيادة التصنيف الدولي للاعبين، والوقوف على مستوياتهم للاستحقاقات المقبلة.

وأشار في تصريح صحفي اليوم إلى أن الاتحاد القطري سيسعى لتكثيف المشاركات الخارجية المستمرة للمنتخب، وهناك خطة عمل فنية ستمكن المنتخبات من تحقيق قفزة نوعية في اللعبة في السنوات القليلة المقبلة.

وختم تصريحاته: “هدفنا تحقيق نتائج جيدة في هذه المنافسات، والوصول لمركز متقدم في الترتيب العام عبر جمع أكبر عدد ممكن من النقاط، ونتطلع في الفترة المقبلة إلى تجهيز منتخب قطري قادر على أن يكون له حضور مشرف في البطولات الإقليمية والآسيوية”.

ويبلغ مجموع جوائز المهرجان 300 ألف درهم إماراتي، وتتضمن فعالياته 11 بطولة مختلفة، تتناسب مع مستويات وفئات المشاركين العمرية تتصدرها بطولة الأساتذة، ويشارك في البطولة كوكبة من نخبة اللاعبين العالميين أبرزهم الصيني وانغ هاو، وكذلك المصنف الثاني الروسي سنان جوغيروف الحائز على بطولة أوروبا للشباب والعالم للناشئين، والمصنف الثالث يفجيني توماشيفسكي من روسيا بطل العالم في فئة الشباب، والمصنف الرابع الروسي ألكسندر بريدك بطل روسيا الاتحادية، وبطل النسخة الـ 21 من المهرجان، والمصنف السادس ارجون ايريجايسي من الهند، والمصنف السابع المصري باسم أمين بطل العرب.
