اكتشف علماء أمريكيون علاجاً جديداً في إطار اختبار دواء لعلاج ضعف المناعة قادر على الحد من انتشار سرطان الدماغ عن طريق تناول قرص واحد من عقارين.
ووجد الباحثون في مركز أندرسون للسرطان التابع لمركز تكساس الطبي في مدينة هيوستن الأمريكية أن ذلك الدواء قادر على تقليص الميلانوما، وهي الخلايا المناعية المضادة الذاتية التي ينتجها الجسم لمكافحة نمو السرطان في مراحله المبكرة وتعرف بـسرطان الخلايا الصبغية التي انتشرت في الدماغ، وذلك أثناء إجرائهم اختبار الدواء.
واستنتج العلماء أن تناول قرص واحد من عقارين مخصصين لعلاج ضعف المناعة فعال جدا في مكافحة سرطان الجلد الذي انتشر ووصل إلى أدمغة المرضى، وتعطي هذه النتيجة التي توصلوا لها أملا جديدا في إدخال طريقة واعدة للعلاج المناعي، كما يأملون في أن يساعد العلاج العديد من المرضى الذين يعانون من انتشار السرطان في أدمغتهم، والذي يلاحظ عادة في المرحلة الأخيرة للمرض وقد سجل نجاح هذه الطريقة في علاج ضعف المناعة رسميا.
ووفقا للإحصائيات الرسمية يوجد في الولايات المتحدة وحدها 200 ألف مريض بالسرطان انتشر المرض في أدمغتهم.
