Shura Council, Latin American & Caribbean Parliament sign MoU

Panama: A memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the State of Qatar, represented by the Shura Council and the Latin American and Caribbean Parliament, was signed at the headquarters of the Latin American and Caribbean Parliament, in light of which Qatar has become an observer member of the Latin American and Caribbean Parliament.
The MoU was signed for the Qatari sided by the Speaker of the Shura Council, H E Ahmed bin Abdullah bin Zaid Al Mahmoud, while it was signed for the Latin American and Caribbean Parliament by the President of the Latin American and Caribbean Parliament, Elias Castillo.
The two sides also agreed to strengthen parliamentary cooperation and political exchanges to boost the bonds of friendship between the State of Qatar and Latin American and Caribbean countries and to contribute to overcoming the blockade imposed on Qatar as well as to achieve peace among peoples and to strengthen parliamentary channels of communication between the two parties and to exchange parliamentary knowledge and expertise in legislative, supervisory and administrative areas, and enrich common points of convergence and work for peace in the world.
This came at a meeting between the two sides during which the parliamentary relations between the Shura Council and the parliaments of Latin America and the Caribbean countries were reviewed and ways of enhancing them. The meeting also reviewed the issues on the agenda of the 35 th General Assembly of the Latin American and Caribbean Parliament.
The Vice-President of the Republic of Panama, Isabel Saint Malo, met yesterday with the Shura Council Speaker. They discussed the bilateral relations and means to develop them in addition to a number of different issues.
The Speaker met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Panama, Alejandro Ferrer. They reviewed bilateral relations and ways of strengthening them, in addition to discussing a number of issues of common concern.
The Speaker also met with the President of the Latin American and Caribbean Parliament, Elias Castillo. They reviewed the parliamentary relations between the State of Qatar and the Parliament of Latin America and the Caribbean and ways to boost them besides the most important topics on the agenda of the 35th General Assembly of the Latin American and Caribbean Parliament.
The Shura Council Speaker also met with Pan African Parliament Speaker Roger Nkodo Dang. Talks dealt with the relations between Qatar and Pan African Parliament and means to develop them, in addition to other different issues. The Speaker also met the First Vice-President of the National Assembly of the Republic of Panama, Leandro Avila, and the President of the Ecuadorian National Assembly, Cesar Litardo.
The two meetings reviewed the existing parliamentary relations and ways of supporting them between the State of Qatar and these countries and discussed the most important topics on the agenda.
The Shura Council Speaker met with Jorge Quijano, CEO of Panama Canal Authority. They discussed the relations between the State of Qatar and the Panama Canal Authority and means to develop these relations in addition to a number of different issues.
All the meetings were also attended by Chairman of the Qatari Friendship Committee with Latin American and Caribbean Countries, Khalid bin Abdullah Al Buainain, and a number of members of the Qatar Friendship Group with Latin American and Caribbean Countries and the Ambassador of the State of Qatar to the Republic of Panama, Saad bin Mubarak Al Jafali Al Nuaimi.
تم التوقيع بالمقر الرئيسي لبرلمان دول أميركا اللاتينية والكاريبي على مذكرة تفاهم بين دولة قطر ممثلة بمجلس الشورى وبرلمان دول أميركا اللاتينية والكاريبي، والتي على ضوئها أصبحت دولة قطر عضواً مراقباً في برلمان دول أميركا اللاتينية والكاريبي.
وقع على المذكرة من الجانب القطري سعادة السيد أحمد بن عبدالله بن زيد آل محمود رئيس مجلس الشورى، ومن جانب برلمان دول أميركا اللاتينية والكاريبي سعادة السيد إلياس كاستيلو رئيس برلمان أميركا اللاتينية والكاريبي.
وبموجب مذكرة التفاهم، اتفق الطرفان على تعزير التعاون البرلماني والتبادل السياسي، لتقوية أواصر الصداقة بين دولة قطر ودول أميركا اللاتينية والكاريبي، وللمساهمة في تجاوز الحصار المفروض على دولة قطر، وإحلال السلام بين الشعوب، وتعزيز قنوات التواصل البرلماني بين الطرفين، وتبادل المعارف والتجارب البرلمانية في المجالات التشريعية والرقابية والإدارية، وإثراء نقاط الالتقاء المشتركة، والعمل من أجل إحلال السلام في العالم.
جاء ذلك خلال الاجتماع الذي تم بين الجانبين، وجرى خلاله استعراض العلاقات البرلمانية بين مجلس الشورى وبرلمانات دول أميركا اللاتينية والكاريبي، وسبل دعمها وتطويرها، كما تم خلال الاجتماع استعراض القضايا المطروحة على جدول أعمال اجتماع الجمعية العامة الـ 35 لبرلمان دول أميركا اللاتينية والكاريبي.
حضر الاجتماع سعادة السيد خالد بن عبدالله البوعينين رئيس لجنة الصداقة القطرية مع دول أميركا اللاتينية والكاريبي، وعدد من أعضاء مجموعة الصداقة القطرية مع دول أميركا اللاتينية والكاريبي، وسعادة السيد سعد بن مبارك الجفالي النعيمي سفير دولة قطر لدى جمهورية بنما.
