Vodafone connects first customer in Qatar to its 5G network

Vodafone Qatar has marked Tuesday the connection of its first enterprise customer – Gulf Bridge International (GBI) – to its 5G network in the Qatar Science and Technology Park.

Vodafone Qatar COO Diego Camberos presented a 5G customer premises equipment (CPE) to GBI’s management that will provide GBI with broadband access at speeds that exceed 1Gbps with a user experience that’s real-time and uninterrupted.

5G connectivity using the CPE, equipment which is manufactured on a very limited scale worldwide, is available where Vodafone Qatar’s 5G network is deployed.

This follows the Vodafone Qatar’s announcement on Monday that it switched on its first, live 5G network at an event that demonstrated the transformative potential of 5G, thanks to incredible speeds but more significantly ultra-low latency, meaning a very low delay for data transmission between two points.

Camberos said: “We’re delighted that GBI is the first company to be trialling our 5G network. GBI is one of our most important partners that has been providing us with international connectivity for many years, so to play a part in further enhancing their operations through our 5G network is something we’re very proud of.

From a business perspective, virtually every industry in Qatar will be impacted by 5G. Businesses across all sectors will be able to monitor their operations in real time. Goods can be produced more efficiently and in a manner more responsive to consumer needs, helping to minimise waste. This will accelerate the country’s move towards self-sufficiency from agriculture to healthcare, and across every sector, Camberos said.

أعلنت شركة «فودافون قطر» أمس عن ربط أولى عملائها من الشركات، وهي «جلف بريدج إنترناشيونال» (جي. بي. آي)، بشبكة الجيل الخامس الخاصة بها في «واحة العلوم والتكنولوجيا في قطر».

وقدّم دييجو كامبيروس، الرئيس التنفيذي للعمليات في «فودافون قطر»، جهاز عملاء/إنترنت ثابت النطاق (CPE) داعم لشبكة الجيل الخامس، إلى إدارة شركة «جلف بريدج إنترناشيونال»؛ وذلك لتزويد الأخيرة بمنفذ واسع النطاق تفوق سرعته 1 جيجابيت، مع تجربة استخدام آنية وبدون انقطاع. جهاز عملاء/إنترنت ثابت النطاق (CPE) والذي يتم تصنيعه على نطاق محدود للغاية حول العالم سوف يتيح استخدام شبكة الجيل الخامس في الأماكن التي تغطيها شبكة الجيل الخامس من «فودافون قطر».

ويأتي هذا عقب إعلان الشركة، أمس الأول الاثنين، أنها قامت بتشغيل أول شبكة حية من الجيل الخامس، ضمن إطار فعالية أظهرت الإمكانات التحويلية المذهلة لشبكة الجيل الخامس؛ وذلك بفضل إمكانية الاتصال بالإنترنت بسرعة خارقة، والأهم من ذلك انخفاض زمن الاستجابة (أو زمن الوصول إلى الشبكة)؛ وبالتالي تقليل الوقت المطلوب لنقل البيانات بين نقطتين.

وقال دييجو كامبروس بهذه المناسبة: «يسرنا أن تكون جلف بريدج إنترناشيونال أول شركة تقوم بتجربة شبكة الجيل الخامس خاصتنا. فهي تعد من أهم شركائنا الذين يوفرون لنا إمكانية الاتصال الدولي منذ عدة سنوات. لذا، فإننا فخورون للغاية بتمكننا من لعب دور إضافي في تعزيز عمليات الشركة من خلال شبكة الجيل الخامس خاصتنا».

وعلى مستوى قطاع الأعمال، ستتأثر جميع القطاعات تقريباً بشبكة الجيل الخامس. وستتمكن الشركات في جميع القطاعات من مراقبة عملياتها آنياً. ويمكن إنتاج السلع بكفاءة أكبر وبمنهجية أكثر استجابة لاحتياجات العملاء، مما يساعد على خفض هدر الموارد. وهذا بدوره، سيساهم في تسريع مسيرة الدولة نحو تحقيق الاكتفاء الذاتي في جميع القطاعات، بدءاً من قطاع الزراعة، ووصولاً إلى قطاع الرعاية الصحية.;
