Ashghal Completes 8 Pedestrian Bridges in Various Areas

Doha: The Public Works Authority ‘Ashghal’ announced the work completion of eight pedestrian bridges in the streets of Najma, Al Khaleej, Al Istiqlal, Al Furousiya, Onaiza, Doha Express Highway, Al Wukair road, and C-Ring Road.
These bridges are located in lively areas in the country. They serve Suheim bin Hamad stadium in Qatar Sports Club, Jassim bin Hamad stadium in Al Sadd Sports Club, and Hamad bin Khalifa stadium in Al Ahli Sports Club, which will be used as training stadiums during the FIFA World Cup 2022.
As for the Al Furousiya pedestrian bridge, it will serve the fans visiting Khalifa International Stadium as the bridge was designed to include pedestrians and cyclists to cross safely.
The bridges also serve the streets of Al Istiqlal, Onaiza, Al Furousiya, Doha Expressway, C-Ring Road, Al Khaleej, Najma, and Al Wukair to serve the areas of Lejbailat, Onaiza, Muaither, Al Mirqab, Al Sadd, Fereej Bin Mahmood, Nuaija, and Al Wakra.
On his part, Eng. Faisal Al Qahtani from Buildings Project Department at Ashghal has explained that the project consisted of eight completed bridges located in various lively areas in Qatar. These areas were chosen because they were hotspots for pedestrian accidents in which they suffered high risks of being hit by cars.
Ashghal works on installing a number of bridges in different locations in cooperation with the Ministry of Transport and the Ministry of Interior.
He added: “Bridge construction projects aim to enhance the safety of pedestrians within the country’s plan to enhance traffic safety in different areas, and to provide pedestrians with easy access to housing and commercial facilities nearby. We have also taken into consideration, the needs of pedestrians, cyclists, and those with special needs in terms of providing private paths and lifts”.
On his side, Eng. Ahmad Al Mahmeed, Bridges Projects Manager in Ashghal, said that with an aim to support local products, the percentage of local products (such as iron, steel, glass, and other materials) used in the project reached 50 percent.
He continued by stating that the bridges were designed with the highest standards of quality and safety and in accordance with national and international standards, as well as, aesthetic touches that were added during construction as some bridges’ design was inspired by Qatari heritage and FIFA 2022 World Cup that Qatar is hosting very soon.
He also clarified how ‘Ashghal’ is following all safety precautions and providing safety procedures to workers in the project as they were able to complete 2,530,205 man-hours without injuries.
It is worth mentioning that more work is underway to construct additional pedestrian bridges in other areas such as Industrial Area, Al Markhiya, Al Sadd, Al Shamal Road (Duhail), Al Muntazah Street and others, in order to provide safety for residents and citizens.

الدوحة: أكملت هيئة الأشغال العامة /أشغال/ أعمال 8 جسور للمشاة في مواقع حيوية من الدولة ومناطق تخدم عددا من الملاعب التدريبية لبطولة كأس العالم FIFA قطر 2022.
وتقع الجسور في شوارع “النجمة، والخليج، والاستقلال، والفروسية، وعنيزة”، وطرق “الدوحة السريع، والوكير، والدائري الثالث”، وقد تم تصميم بعضها لخدمة المشاة وراكبي الدراجات الهوائية.
وأوضح المهندس فيصل القحطاني من إدارة مشروعات المباني في /أشغال/، أن المشروع تضمن ثمانية جسور انتهى العمل عليها في مناطق متعددة وحيوية في دولة قطر، والتي تم تحديدها بناءً على أكثر النقاط خطورة على المشاة والتي يتعرضون فيها لحوادث الدهس، كما تقوم /أشغال/ بالعمل على تركيب عدد من الجسور في مختلف المناطق بالتعاون مع وزارتي الداخلية والمواصلات.
وأضاف أن مشاريع إنشاء جسور المشاة تهدف إلى تعزيز السلامة المرورية في مختلف المناطق، وكذلك تسهيل وصول المشاة إلى المنشآت السكنية والتجارية المجاورة.. مشيرا إلى أن الجسور الجديدة مهيأة لخدمة المشاة والدراجات الهوائية وذوي الاحتياجات الخاصة، من حيث المسارات الخاصة والمصاعد.
من جانبه لفت المهندس أحمد المحيميد مدير مشروعات الجسور في /أشغال/، إلى أنه في إطار دعم الدولة للمنتج المحلي فإن نسبة استخدام المنتجات المحلية في المشروع بلغت نحو 50 بالمئة مثل الحديد والصلب والزجاج وغيرها من المواد، وأن تصميم الجسور جاء طبقاً لأعلى معايير الجودة والأمان وبما يتوافق مع المعايير التابعة لدولة قطر والمعايير العالمية، كما تم إضافة لمسات جمالية أثناء تنفيذ الجسور، وجاء تصميم بعضها متوافقا مع التراث القطري، وأخرى تحمل شعارات وتصاميم بطولة كأس العالم FIFA قطر 2022.
وأوضح أن هيئة الأشغال العامة تقوم بتوفير كافة إجراءات السلامة للعاملين في المشروع، حيث استغرق المشروع نحو 2 مليون و 530 ألفا و 205 ساعات عمل بدون إصابة.
الجدير بالذكر أنه يجري العمل على إنشاء مزيد من جسور المشاة في مناطق متعددة مثل الصناعية، والمرخية والسد وطريق الشمال (الدحيل) وشارع المنتزه وغيرها.
