Bitcoin Topples the Richest Man on the Planet

Doha: Elon Musk, Tesla’s automaker, and SpaceX, is no longer the richest person on the planet after Tesla’s shares fell 8.6% on Monday, wiping out $15.2 billion in net worth.

According to Bloomberg, the sudden changes in the value of bitcoin’s digital currency have caused a huge loss for the man who recently topped the list of the richest man on the planet.

Shares in Tesla electric car maker fell 8.6%, as bitcoin’s digital currency depreciated.

Bloomberg linked tesla’s decline to Musk’s remarks describing the value of the cryptocurrency as too high.

Musk slipped to second place in the Bloomberg Billionaires Index of the world’s 500 richest people with a net worth of $183.4 billion, as Amazon founder Jeff Bezos regained first place even as his fortune dropped by $3.7 billion to $186.3 billion yesterday.

Bezos took first place in the rankings for three consecutive years before January, when Musk overtook the e-commerce giant thanks to a 794% rise in Tesla shares.

ووفق وكالة “بلومبيرغ”، تسببت التغييرات المفاجئة لقيمة عملة بتكوين الرقمية لخسارة كبيرة لدى الرجل الذي تصدر مؤخرا في قائمة أغنى رجل على كوكب الأرض.

وانخفضت أسهم شركة “تسلا” لصناعة السيارات الكهربائية بنسبة 8.6%، بالتزامن مع انخفاض قيمة عملة بتكوين الرقمية.

وربطت الوكالة بين انخفاض أسهم شركة “تسلا” وبين تصريحات ماسك التي وصف فيها قيمة العملات الرقيمة بالمرتفعة للغاية.

وتراجع ماسك ليحتل المرتبة الثانية في مؤشر بلومبرغ للمليارديرات لأغنى 500 شخص في العالم بثروة صافية قدرها 183.4 مليار دولار، حيث استعاد مؤسس شركة أمازون جيف بيزوس المركز الأول حتى مع انخفاض ثروته بمقدار 3.7 مليار دولار إلى 186.3 مليار دولار أمس.

واحتل بيزوس المركز الأول في الترتيب لثلاث سنوات متتالية قبل يناير، عندما تفوق ماسك على عملاق التجارة الإلكترونية بفضل ارتفاع بنسبة 794% في أسهم تسلا.
