QRCS begins Iftar project for 22,000 persons in Al-Quds

Qatar Red Crescent Society’s (QRCS) representation mission in the West Bank and Al-Quds has started a Ramadan Iftar project in the yards of the Al-Aqsa Mosque.

Over the holy month of Ramadan, group Iftar banquets are being held to receive fasting Palestinians who visit the mosque for prayer and worship.

In total, the banquets are expected to serve up to 12,900 fasting people, QRCS has said in a statement. Each Iftar meal contains rice, chicken, dates, water, yoghurt, fruits and dessert.

The $161,000 project also involves the distribution of food parcels in the poor neighbourhoods of Al-Quds. These distributions will sustain more than 1,770 Al-Quds families, or 8,850 people, according to QRCS. Each parcel contains 28kg of food staples like rice, sugar, milk, legumes, tomato paste, vegetable oil, pasta, beans and lentils.

As the 10th edition, this project is part of QRCS’s Ramadan campaign for 1440 AH. Under the theme of ‘Call for Mercy’, the drive plans to reach out to many countries in Asia and Africa with humanitarian and development operations worth more than QR60mn.

شرع الهلال الأحمر القطري، من خلال بعثته التمثيلية بالضفة الغربية والقدس، في تنفيذ مشروع إفطار صائم في باحات المسجد الأقصى، بإجمالي مستفيدين 22 ألف صائم، وذلك بإقامة موائد رحمن لإفطار الصائمين الذين يحرصون على الصلاة والاعتكاف بالمسجد الأقصى المبارك.

وينفّذ الهلال الأحمر القطري هذا المشروع -الذي تبلغ ميزانيته الإجمالية 161.000 دولار (ما يعادل حوالي 588.000 ريال)- على شقين: يتضمن الأول منهما إقامة موائد إفطار جماعي يستقبل فيها المتطوعون مئات الصائمين يومياً ممن يفدون على ثالث الحرمين من أنحاء فلسطين كافة لأجل إعماره بالمصلين والصائمين، بينما يتضمن الشق الثاني من المشروع توزيع طرود غذائية متكاملة على الأسر الفقيرة في مدينة القدس وضواحيها.

وبحسب خطة المشروع، يُقدّر عدد المستفيدين من إفطار الصائم في مدينة القدس هذا العام بحوالي 12.900 زائر من مرتادي المسجد الأقصى، وتشتمل وجبة الإفطار على أصناف الأرز والدجاج والتمر والماء واللبن والفاكهة والحلوى، بينما يستفيد من مشروع الطرود الغذائية ما يزيد على 1.770 أسرة مقدسية تضم حوالي 8.850 شخصاً، ويحتوي الطرد على 28 كيلوجراماً من المواد الغذائية الأساسية، مثل: الأرز، والسكر، والحليب، والبقوليات، وصلصة الطماطم، وزيت الطهي، والمعكرونة، والفاصوليا، والعدس.

ويُعدّ هذا العام هو العاشر الذي ينفّذ فيه الهلال الأحمر القطري مشروع إفطار الصائم في مدينة القدس، وهو يأتي ضمن حملة الهلال الأحمر القطري الرمضانية لعام 1440 هـ تحت شعار «وتواصوا بالمرحمة»، والتي تستهدف تنفيذ مشاريع إنسانية وتنموية في العديد من الدول في قارتي آسيا وإفريقيا بقيمة تتجاوز 60 مليون ريال.
