Doha: HE Minister of Environment and Climate Change Sheikh Dr. Faleh bin Nasser bin Ahmed bin Ali Al-Thani underlined that the State of Qatar, under the wise leadership of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, is keen to protect the environment and its natural balance to achieve comprehensive and sustainable development for all generations.
In this regard, HE the Minister noted that Qatar has placed environmental development as one of the four pillars of Qatar National Vision (QNV) 2030 and stressed that achieving this vision is a national responsibility for all. He explained that Qatar intends to achieve environmental development goals, especially in the priority areas contained in the Environment and Climate Change Strategy, especially greenhouse gas emissions, air quality, biodiversity, water, circular economy, waste management, and land sustainability.
This came in the speech of HE the Minister of Environment and Climate Change on the occasion of the celebration of Qatar Environment Day, which falls on February 26 every year, and is celebrated this year under the slogan “Our Environment Our Responsibility.” He said that this slogan is a message that seeks to document the strong relationship between society and its environment, adding that preserving the environment is an integral part of Qatar’s heritage and a societal responsibility aimed at protecting the natural resources and environment.
In his speech, His Excellency reiterated the keenness to exert more effort to protect the environment and achieve sustainable development goals as part of the ministry’s strategy in protecting the environment and limiting the effects of climate change. He explained that the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change aims to actively contribute to achieving the goals announced by HH the Amir, during his participation in the 26th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP26) in Glasgow, Scotland, which reflects the State of Qatar’s interest in the issue of climate change, which is at the forefront of its priorities, by declaring Qatar’s commitment to reducing carbon emissions, reducing the effects of climate change and the country’s approach to dealing with climate change.
HE Sheikh Dr. Faleh bin Nasser bin Ahmed Al-Thani highlighted that Qatar is at the forefront of countries that have announced their plans to seriously and effectively reduce greenhouse gas emissions, in addition to its prominent role as an active member in international efforts related to combating climate change and supporting global plans to preserve the planet from the increase in carbon emissions. He pointed out that the celebration of Qatar Environment Day every year is an important occasion to draw attention to priority environmental issues in the country, and emphasize the importance of preserving the environment for future generations, raising the level of environmental awareness among various individuals and groups of society, and improving behavior patterns towards the environmental resources. He added that the increase in community participation in environmental activities and events held on this occasion, reflects the keenness of all individuals, government, and private sector institutions and associations to confirm their commitment to protecting the environment and achieving the goals of sustainable development.
HE the Minister stated that the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change was keen during the Environment Day’s activities to launch a set of distinguished environmental activities and events to spread environmental awareness and knowledge and consolidate the values and behaviors of environmental protection to achieve sustainability and preserve biodiversity. He noted that these activities varied between afforestation campaigns, the release of animals and birds in natural reserves, cleaning and cultivation of endangered wild plants in green fields, in addition to awareness activities in schools to spread environmental awareness among young students because of their important role in achieving sustainable development and preserving the environment.
HE Minister of Environment and Climate Change Sheikh Dr. Faleh bin Nasser bin Ahmed bin Ali Al-Thani thanked all parties and individuals for their valuable and appreciated participation in the activities of Qatar Environment Day 2022, stressing that these initiatives are part of the efforts made to enable greater participation of the entities in environmental awareness programs and strengthen community partnership in a way that contributes to achieving the ministry’s strategy in preserving the environment and introducing environmental issues and climate change.

الدوحة: أكد سعادة الشيخ الدكتور فالح بن ناصر بن أحمد بن علي آل ثاني، وزير البيئة والتغير المناخي، أن دولة قطر، في ظل القيادة الحكيمة لحضرة صاحب السمو الشيخ تميم بن حمد آل ثاني أمير البلاد المفدى “حفظه الله ورعاه”، حريصة كل الحرص على حماية البيئة وتوازنها الطبيعي، تحقيقا للتنمية الشاملة والمستدامة لكافة الأجيال.
ونوه سعادة الوزير، في هذا الصدد، إلى أن قطر وضعت التنمية البيئية كأحد الركائز الأربعة لرؤيتها الوطنية 2030، وأكدت على أن تحقيق هذه الرؤية مسؤولية وطنية للجميع، موضحا أن قطر تعتزم تحقيق أهداف التنمية البيئية، لاسيما في المجالات ذات الأولوية الواردة في استراتيجية البيئة والتغير المناخي، وهي انبعاثات الغازات الدفيئة وجودة الهواء والتنوع البيولوجي والمياه والاقتصاد الدائري وإدارة النفايات واستدامة الأراضي.
جاء ذلك في كلمة سعادة وزير البيئة والتغير المناخي، بمناسبة الاحتفال بيوم البيئة القطري الذي يصادف /السبت/ السادس والعشرين من شهر فبراير كل عام، ويحتفى به هذه السنة تحت شعار /بيئتنا أمانة/، حيث قال إن هذا الشعار يعد رسالة تسعى إلى توثيق العلاقة الوطيدة بين المجتمع وبيئته، وأن المحافظة عليها يعد جزء لا يتجزأ من “تراثنا ومسؤولية مجتمعية تهدف لحماية مواردنا وبيئتنا الطبيعية”.
وجدد سعادته، في كلمته، الحرص على بذل المزيد من الجهد لحماية البيئة، وتحقيق أهداف التنمية المستدامة التي تمثل استراتيجية الوزارة في حماية البيئة والحد من آثار التغير المناخي، موضحا أن وزارة البيئة والتغير المناخي تضع نصب عينيها المساهمة الفاعلة في تحقيق الأهداف التي أعلنها حضرة صاحب السمو أمير البلاد المفدى خلال مشاركة سموه في المؤتمر السادس والعشرين للأطراف في اتفاقية الأمم المتحدة الإطارية بشأن تغير المناخ (COP2) بمدينة غلاسكو الأسكتلندية ، والتي تعكس مدى اهتمام دولة قطر بقضية تغير المناخ التي تعد في مقدمة أولوياتها، وذلك من خلال إعلان التزام دولة قطر بتخفيض الانبعاثات الكربونية، والحد من آثار التغير المناخي ونهج الدولة في التعامل مع التغير المناخي.
وأبرز سعادة الشيخ الدكتور فالح بن ناصر بن أحمد آل ثاني، في كلمته، أن قطر تعتبر في مقدمة الدول التي أعلنت عن خططها لتخفيف انبعاثات الغازات المسببة للاحتباس الحراري بشكل جاد وفعال، بجانب دورها البارز كعضو فاعل في الجهود الدولية المتعلقة بمكافحة التغيرات المناخية ودعم الخطط العالمية للحفاظ على كوكب الأرض من تزايد الانبعاثات الكربونية، مشيرا إلى أن الاحتفال بيوم البيئة القطري كل عام يعد مناسبة هامة للفت الأنظار إلى القضايا البيئية ذات الأولوية في الدولة، وللتأكيد على أهمية المحافظة عليها للأجيال القادمة، ورفع مستوى الوعي البيئي لدى مختلف أفراد وفئات المجتمع، وتحسين أنماط السلوك تجاه مواردنا البيئية، وهو ما قال إنه يظهر جليا في ازدياد حجم المشاركة المجتمعية في الأنشطة والفعاليات البيئية التي تقام بهذه المناسبة، وحرص كافة الأفراد ومؤسسات القطاعين الحكومي والخاص والجمعيات لتأكيد التزامهم بحماية البيئة وبأهداف التنمية المستدامة.
وذكر سعادة الوزير أن وزارة البيئة والتغير المناخي حرصت خلال فعاليات هذا اليوم على إطلاق مجموعة من الأنشطة والفعاليات البيئية المميزة لنشر الوعي والمعرفة البيئية، وترسيخ قيم وسلوكيات حماية البيئة في سبيل تحقيق الاستدامة والحفاظ على التنوع الحيوي، مشيرا إلى أن هذه الفعاليات تنوعت بين حملات تشجير، وإطلاق حيوانات وطيور بالمحميات الطبيعية، وتنظيف وزراعة النباتات البرية المهددة بالانقراض في الروض، بالإضافة للفعاليات التوعوية في المدارس بهدف نشر الوعي البيئي بين النشء من الطلبة لما لهم من دور هام في تحقيق التنمية المستدامة والمحافظة على البيئة.
وفي ختام كلمته، تقدم سعادة الشيخ الدكتور فالح بن ناصر بن أحمد بن علي آل ثاني، وزير البيئة والتغير المناخي، بالشكر لكافة الجهات والأفراد على مشاركتهم القيمة والمقدرة في فعاليات يوم البيئة القطري 2022، مؤكدا أن هذه المبادرات تعد جزءا من الجهود المبذولة لتمكين مشاركة أكبر عدد من الجهات للمشاركة برامج التوعية البيئية، ولتعزيز الشراكة المجتمعية بما يساهم في تحقيق استراتيجية الوزارة في الحفاظ على البيئة، والتعريف بقضايا البيئة والتغير المناخي.
