Samsung unveils first 5G smartphone: Galaxy S10 5G

Samsung’s Unpacked 2019 event started with the Galaxy Fold and ended with the announcement of the Galaxy S10 5G. The Galaxy S10 5G is amongst the first official smartphones with 5G support and while there was no official date of its launch but it is expected to arrive in the US in the second quarter of 2019.
The Galaxy S10 5G is different from the other three variant of the Galaxy S10 that were launched at the event. For starters, the S10 5G has a massive 6.7-inch curved Quad HD+ Dynamic amoled display with the Infinity-O style notch. It will also be the first smartphone from Samsung to offer a 3D depth camera on the rear as well as the front. It has a 4,500mAh battery – the largest available on an S series device. Plus, it supports super-fast charging with a 25W charger.
Camera setup is also upgraded with the use of 3D depth sensing sensor on the S10 5G. It has a quadruple rear camera with dual OIS – 12MP + 12MP telephoto + 16MP ultra-wide + 3D Depth sensor. On the front, you get a 10MP sensor + 3D depth sensor. The 3D depth sensor enables features like video live focus and Quick Measure plus boosts the phone’s AR capabilities.
Other features remain the same as the Galaxy S10 and S10+. It will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor and come in a single variant – 8GB RAM with 256GB storage. However, unlike the S10 and S10+, the S10 5G does not have a microSD slot for storage expansion. It will have the ultra-sonic fingerprint scanner, WiFi ax, Bluetooth 5.0, NFC, and USB Type-C port.
Samsung did not reveal any information regarding the price of the S10 5G. However, considering that the S10+ is priced US$ 999.99 onwards, we expect the S10 5G to be priced around US$ 1,499.99 when it becomes available later this year.

يعتبر هاتف سامسونغ غلاكسي إس10 5جي أول هاتف للشركة يدعم تقنية اتصالات الجيل الخامس، وكانت الشركة كشفت عنه إلى جوار ثلاثة هواتف أخرى من فئة غلاكسي إس10، لكنها لم تحدد ثمنه أو موعد طرحه حتى أمس.
ووفقا لسامسونغ، سيطرح غلاكسي إس10 5جي دون برنامج الطلب المسبق المعتاد، وإنما ستعتمد الشركة على المبيعات القوية لسلسلة هواتف هذه الفئة، والإثارة في أنه أول هواتفها الذي يدعم اتصالات الجيل الخامس.
وأول شبكة اتصالات 5جي ستدعم هذا الهاتف ستكون في كوريا الجنوبية، حيث سيُطرح بسعر 1.5 مليون ون (نحو 1300 دولار أميركي)، وسيكون إطلاقه بتاريخ 5 أبريل المقبل.
ويأتي تحديد موعد طرح الهاتف بعد مدة قصيرة من إعلان وكالة أبحاث أمواج الراديو الوطنية -التي تديرها الحكومة- عن اجتياز غلاكسي إس10 5جي لاختبارات التحقق من الإشارة.
ووفقا لسامسونغ فإن المشتريات التي يتم تسجيلها مع شركة الاتصالات بين 5 و16 أبريل المقبل، ستشمل الحصول على زوج من سماعات غلاكسي بودز، وخصم بمقدار النصف عند استبدال شاشة الهاتف، وحزمة الشحن اللاسلكي، وسيكون عرض استبدال الشاشة صالحا لمدة عام بعد تاريخ الشراء.
يذكر أن غلاكسي إس10 5جي يأتي بأكبر شاشة بين هواتف إس10، وفي الواقع فهو يضم أكبر شاشة على الإطلاق في كامل سلسلة هواتف غلاكسي إس، حيث تأتي بقياس 6.7 بوصات من نوع “إنفنيتي-أو ديسبلاي”، التي تعني وجود ثقب في زاوية الشاشة لإفساح المجال أمام عدسات الكاميرا.
