Singapore Business Council in Qatar to foster closer ties

DOHA: The Singapore Business Council in Qatar (SBCQ) was launched on May 1 at the Singapore Embassy under the patronage of the Singapore Ambassador to Qatar, Jai S Sohan.
The SBCQ aims to foster closer relationship between business communities in Singapore and Qatar as well as promote and develop mutual investments and bilateral trade opportunities of both countries. The SBCQ will also provide guidelines and support to interested business parties seeking to explore opportunities in Qatar and Singapore.
The SBCQ is organised under the patronage of the Singapore Embassy in Qatar and registered in the Qatar Financial Centre as a non-profit business council. All office bearers are Singaporean volunteers currently working in the business sector in Qatar.
The post of president is held by Joseph Abraham, CEO of Commercial Bank Qatar and Vice-President by Susanna Toi, Chief Business Officer of Taleb Group. This launch of the SBCQ follows the visit of the Singapore Foreign Minister, Vivien Balakrishnan, to Qatar last week and reflects the importance of Qatar to the Singapore Government and Business Community.
تم تدشين مجلس أعمال سنغافورة في قطر، الثلاثاء الماضي، بسفارة جمهورية سنغافورة في الدوحة، تحت رعاية سعادة السيد جاي سوهان، سفير جمهورية سنغافورة لدى دولة قطر.
ويهدف المجلس إلى توطيد العلاقات الثنائية على مستوى قطاع الأعمال بين دولة قطر وسنغافورة، وكذلك تعزيز وتنمية فرص الاستثمار فيما بينهما وتعميق الروابط التجارية بين البلدين، وسيوفر “مجلس أعمال سنغافورة في قطر” الإرشادات والتوجيهات اللازمة والدعم المناسب لأصحاب الأعمال الذين يبحثون عن فرص للاستثمار في الدولتين.
ولقد تم تأسيس “مجلس أعمال سنغافورة في قطر” تحت رعاية سفارة جمهورية سنغافورة في دولة قطر بمركز قطر للمال كمجلس أعمال غير ربحي. ويعد كافة الملتحقين بالمجلس من المتطوعين الذين يعملون حالياً لدى قطاع الأعمال بدولة قطر. ولقد تم تعيين السيد جوزيف آبراهام، الرئيس التنفيذي لمجموعة البنك التجاري، رئيساً لـ”مجلس أعمال سنغافورة في قطر”، كما تم تعيين السيدة سوزانا توي، مدير تطوير الأعمال لدى “مجموعة طالب”، في منصب نائب رئيس المجلس.
ولقد جاء إطلاق “مجلس أعمال سنغافورة في قطر” بعد زيارة سعادة الدكتور فيفيان بالاكريشنان، وزير خارجية جمهورية سنغافورة، للبلاد الأسبوع الماضي؛ مما يعكس أهمية الشراكة بين حكومتي البلدين ودوائر الأعمال المختلفة.
