«مؤسسة قطر» تحتفي بيوم «التوحد»
Doha: Qatar Foundation (QF) hosted a World Autism Awareness Day event at Al Shaqab in Education City recently, under the umbrella of Renad Academy – part of QF’s Pre-University Education (PUE) and QF’s Community Development.
The family-orientated event included a number of information booths hosted by various QF entities and relevant community centers, with on-site representatives to speak with visitors and answer questions.
Buthaina A Al Nuaimi, President of Pre-University Education, QF, said: “We’re pleased to see so many members of the community come together to celebrate and learn about Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and show their acceptance and unity.
“With the many programs, initiatives, and events PUE hosts with Renad Academy in celebration and support of ASD, the main aim is always to inspire acceptance, trust, and educational excellence. This event reflects our role and responsibility to our society and QF’s ongoing commitment to helping, supporting, and equipping all students to reach their full potential.”
The day kicked off with an Autism Awareness Walkathon around Education City’s Oxygen Park, followed by a variety of awareness, sports, and recreational activities held in the Indoor Arena at Al Shaqab. Some of these included horse-riding, storytelling sessions, an obstacle course, football games, and a ceramic painting workshop.
Machaille Al Naimi, President of Community Development, QF, said: “Our World Autism Awareness Day event represents an opportunity for us to create greater awareness and acceptance of autism within the local community, as well as support those with the condition and their families. We are delighted to see so many people here today.
“We are working closely with stakeholders from across the country, and this is just one example of our year-round commitment to raising autism awareness.”
Renad Academy also displayed art from its first annual Autism Awareness Art Competition, which featured the work of QF school students, with a dedicated section displaying the work of Renad Academy students.
Awards were presented to the winners of both the Autism Awareness Art Competition and the annual Autism Awareness Film Competition.
PUE’s World Autism Awareness Day celebration forms part of a month-long calendar of events held throughout April. Other activities included autism-friendly movie screenings at the Education City Student Center, as well as informative sessions and parents evenings at Renad Academy, QF Headquarters, the Education City Student Center, Qatar National Library, and the Qatar Airways Headquarters.
World Autism Awareness Day was first proposed by Her Highness Sheikha Moza bint Nasser, Chairperson of Qatar Foundation, to the United Nations in 2007, and was adopted without a vote by the UN General Assembly. The first World Autism Awareness Day was celebrated on April 2, 2008.
احتفلت مؤسسة قطر باليوم العالمي للتوعية بالتوحد، عبر فعالية عُقدت في الشقب، داخل حرم المدينة التعليمية، واستقطبت العديد من مسؤولي المؤسسة والمعنيين باضطراب التوحد وأعضاء المجتمع.
واستضافت أكاديمية ريناد العاملة تحت مظلة التعليم ما قبل الجامعي بمؤسسة قطر، بالتعاون مع إدارة تنمية المجتمع بالمؤسسة، الاحتفالية، التي شهدت كذلك تواجد ممثلين لمراكز مختلفة بالمؤسسة وهيئات مجتمعية ذات صلة، تفاعلوا مع الزوار وأجابوا على أسئلتهم.
وقالت السيدة بثينة علي النعيمي، رئيس التعليم ما قبل الجامعي بمؤسسة قطر: « تمَكَن المشاركون من التعرف على اضطراب طيف التوحد، وأظهروا تعاطفهم وتضامنهم مع عائلات المتعايشين مع هذا الاضطراب».
وأضافت: «يتمثل هدفنا الرئيسي في دعم المتعايشين مع اضطراب طيف التوحد، وإلهام أفراد المجتمع وتمكينهم من تفهم طبيعة هذا الاضطراب، وتعكس هذه الفعالية دورنا ومسؤوليتنا تجاه مجتمعنا، والتزام مؤسسة قطر المتواصل بمساعدة جميع الطلاب ودعمهم وتأهيلهم لكي يتمكنوا من بلوغ أقصى قدراتهم».
بدأت الاحتفالية بمسيرة حول حديقة الأوكسجين للتوعية بالتوحد، تلتها إقامة باقة من الأنشطة التثقيفية والترفيهية في الميدان الداخلي للشقب، شملت ركوب الخيل، وسرد القصص، وقفز الحواجز، وكرة القدم، وورشة عمل للرسم على السيراميك.
وقالت السيدة مشاعل حسن النعيمي، رئيس تنمية المجتمع بمؤسسة قطر: «توفر فعالية اليوم العالمي للتوعية بالتوحد فرصة لتعزيز الوعي باضطراب التوحد، وتقبله في أوساط المجتمع المحلي، فضلاً عن دعم الأشخاص الذين يعانون منه وعائلاتهم».;
