The Ministry of Education and Higher Education called on parents to cooperate and ensure that their children attend the distance learning lessons.
The Ministry of Education and Higher Education has decided to adopt distance learning for a period of one week starting tomorrow, Sunday.
Accordingly, in-person attendance of students is suspended in all public and private schools and kindergartens in the country, said the Ministry in a statement yesterday.
The decision has been taken as part of the Ministry’s mission to provide a safe school environment and considering the recent increase in the number of COVID-19 cases.
This decision comes in coordination with the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) and in accordance with the precautionary and preventive measures required for the public interest.
This also accounts for the safety of students, teachers and administrative staff, and to facilitate the examination procedures during coronavirus. In this context, it has been decided that the administrative and academic staff would continue to attend schools and kindergartens.
The decision will help protect parents, students and other members of the community from the infection of coronavirus.
Meanwhile, spokesperson of the Ministry, Mohamad Al Bishri, said the Ministry made special focus on distance learning and e-learning to continue the education process without interruption since the beginning of the pandemic.
Speaking in Qatar TV programme recently, Al Bishri said: “We had integrated e-learning with the educational process during the pandemic, in line with the objectives of Qatar National Vision 2030.”
He said that the efforts had been intensified for providing training to adopt e-learning and blended learning and upgrading education system in schools to accommodate the changes.
In a separate statement issued earlier, the Ministry said that the work is in full swing to launch a new learning management system ‘Qatar Education’ in the first quarter (Q1) of 2022.
The Ministry is also working to introduce a general strategy for e-learning. Qatar is one of the first countries that started implementing the idea of e-learning in 2012 adopting advanced technologies as a strategic goal to modernise its education system.
During the pandemic, the e-learning infrastructure helped greatly in moving rapidly from classroom in person learning to distance learning with the support of school management and teachers.
During the past two years, education, like all other aspects of life, faced a great challenge because of COVID-19 pandemic. However, the Ministry, in cooperation with State institutions concerned, dealt with it in a way to reduce the impact of educational loss in government and private schools and universities.
Throughout the pandemic, the Ministry succeeded in organising exams and evaluation safely and smoothly which required in-person attendance of students.

وقالت الوزارة في بيان، إنه تم تعليق الحضور الشخصي للطلاب في جميع المدارس ورياض الأطفال الحكومية والخاصة في الدولة. وتم اتخاذ القرار كجزء من مهمة الوزارة لتوفير بيئة مدرسية آمنة مع الأخذ في الاعتبار الزيادة الأخيرة في عدد حالات كوفيد-19. ويأتي هذا القرار بالتنسيق مع وزارة الصحة العامة ووفقاً للإجراءات الاحترازية والوقائية اللازمة للصالح العام.
ويراعي هذا أيضاً سلامة الطلاب والمعلمين والموظفين الإداريين وتسهيل إجراءات الفحص أثناء فيروس كورونا. وفي هذا السياق تقرر استمرار أعضاء الهيئة الإدارية والأكاديمية في الالتحاق بالمدارس ورياض الأطفال.
وسيقوم القرار على حماية الآباء والأمهات والطلاب وغيرهم من أعضاء المجتمع من عدوى فيروس كورونا.
وفي غضون ذلك، قال المتحدث باسم الوزارة، محمد البشري، إن الوزارة ركزت بشكل خاص على التعلم عن بعد والتعليم الإلكتروني لمواصلة عملية التعليم دون انقطاع منذ بداية الوباء. وفي حديثه في برنامج على تلفزيون قطر مؤخراً، قال البشري: “لقد دمجنا التعلم الإلكتروني مع العملية التعليمية خلال الوباء، تماشياً مع أهداف رؤية قطر الوطنية 2030”.
وأضاف إنه تم تكثيف الجهود لتوفير التدريب لاعتماد التعلم الإلكتروني والتعلم المدمج والارتقاء بنظام التعليم في المدارس لاستيعاب التغييرات.
وأضافت الوزارة في بيان منفصل صدر في وقت سابق، إن العمل يسير على قدم وساق لإطلاق نظام إدارة التعلم الجديد “قطر للتعليم” في الربع الأول (الربع الأول) من عام 2022. كما تعمل الوزارة على تقديم إستراتيجية عامة للتعلم الإلكتروني. حيث تعد قطر من أوائل الدول التي بدأت في تطبيق فكرة التعلم الإلكتروني في عام 2012، حيث اعتمدت التقنيات المتقدمة كهدف استراتيجي لتحديث نظامها التعليمي. وساعدت البنية التحتية للتعلم الإلكتروني بشكل كبير في الانتقال السريع من الفصل الدراسي إلى التعلم الشخصي إلى التعلم عن بعد بدعم من إدارة المدرسة والمعلمين خلال الوباء. وكان التعليم قد واجه تحدياً كبيراً بسبب جائحة كوفيد-19، خلال العامين الماضيين مثل جميع جوانب الحياة الأخرى. إلا أن الوزارة وبالتعاون مع مؤسسات الدولة المعنية تعاملت معها بطريقة تخفف من أثر الخسارة التعليمية في المدارس والجامعات الحكومية والخاصة.
ونجحت الوزارة في تنظيم الاختبارات والتقييم بأمان وسلاسة مما تطلب الحضور الشخصي للطلاب طوال فترة الوباء.
