Qatar University to Become a Member of the WHO EMRO Youth Council

Doha: Qatar University (QU) on Thursday announced that its application to serve on the WHO Eastern Mediterranean Regional Office (EMRO) Youth Council has been accepted.

This nomination underscores Qatar’s commitment to cultivating youth participation in public health policy, the University asserted.

Dean of the College of Health Sciences at QU Dr. Hanan Abdul Rahim, expressed her enthusiasm, stating, “I am delighted that QU, which has been designated a Healthy University by WHO, will be represented on the Council.” Dr. Abdul Rahim added, “We see the WHO EMRO Youth Council as a platform for empowering youth, the future of our region, to get actively involved in addressing the conditions that shape their health and wellbeing. QUs keenness to be a part of this initiative is a reflection of its commitment to preparing responsible citizens and future leaders who prioritize the health and wellbeing of their communities.” The WHO EMRO Youth Council is a visionary initiative recognizing young people not only as future leaders but also as current agents of change. With a mission to position young voices at the core of global health decision-making processes, the Council aims to form strategic alliances with youth organizations, amplifying the contributions of young individuals to public health. This strategy promotes comprehensive and inclusive youth engagement across the Eastern Mediterranean Region.

الدوحة: أعلنت جامعة قطر قبول عضويتها في مجلس الشباب التابع لمكتب منظمة الصحة العالمية الإقليمي لشرق المتوسط، مشيرة إلى أن هذه العضوية تعكس التزامها بتعزيز مشاركة الشباب في سياسة الصحة العامة.

وأعربت الدكتورة حنان عبدالرحيم عميد كلية العلوم الصحية بجامعة قطر، بهذه المناسبة، عن الفخر بأن تكون الجامعة، التي تم تصنيفها جامعة صحية من قبل منظمة الصحة العالمية، عضوا في مجلس الشباب التابع لمكتب المنظمة الإقليمي لشرق المتوسط، مضيفة أن هذا المجلس يمثل منصة لتمكين الشباب من المشاركة بنشاط في معالجة الظروف التي تشكل صحتهم ورفاهيتهم.

وأشارت إلى حرص جامعة قطر على أن تكون جزءا من هذه المبادرة، في انعكاس لالتزامها بإعداد مواطنين مسؤولين وقادة مستقبل يعطون الأولوية لصحة ورفاهية مجتمعاتهم.

من جهتها، ذكرت جامعة قطر، في بيان، أن قسم الصحة العامة بكلية العلوم الصحية، التابعة لقطاع العلوم الصحية والطبية، سيمثل الجامعة في هذا المجلس.

ويهدف المجلس إلى تعزيز مشاركة الشباب في عملية صنع القرار في مجال الصحة العامة من خلال تشكيل تحالفات استراتيجية مع المنظمات والمؤسسات والجهات الشبابية على مستوى منطقة شرق المتوسط.

يشار إلى أن المجلس كمنصة ديناميكية في مجال الصحة العامة، يتعاون مع مجموعة متنوعة من المنظمات، بما في ذلك الهيئات الحكومية الدولية وغير الحكومية والمؤسسات الأكاديمية والبحثية والمؤسسات الخيرية ومجموعات البرلمانيين الشباب.
