Completion of Al Jazira Al Arabiya Street main Upgrading Works and Opening it to Traffic
اكتمال الأعمال الرئيسية لتطوير شارع الجزيرة العربية وفتحه أمام الحركة المرورية
The Public Works Authority ‘Ashghal’ announced the completion of main upgrading works on 1.2-km of Al Jazira Al Arabiya Street along with the construction of service roads. The recently completed carriageway is now open to traffic, as part of the Road Improvement Works in Various Areas of Greater Doha Project – Phase five.
On this occasion, Eng. Ali Sami Jamal, the Project Engineer in the Roads Projects Department at ‘Ashghal’ highlighted the strategic role of Al Jazira Al Arabiya Street. He pointed out that Al Jazeera Al Arabis Street provides direct link to 22 February Street, Jassim Bin Hamad Street and Ahmed Bin Ali Street which play a vital role in accommodating significant traffic volume and facilitating connectivity to several parts of Doha. He also stated that Al Jazira Al Arabiya Street provides a link to many vital and residential areas such as Lebday, Wadi Al Sail, Madinat Khalifa and Fereej Bin Omran as well as serving several commercial shops and service, educational and health centers.
Eng. Jamal also explained that the completion of the upgrading works on Al Jazira Al Arabiya Street has significantly enhanced the traffic flow and reduced the congestion in the area especially that the project aimed at improving the vehicular capacity of Al Jazira Al Arabiya Street and upgrading exits and entrances of the surrounding streets as well as providing service roads.
Engineer Ali Sami Jamal indicated that in line with the Public Works Authority’s support to local manufacturers and in line with Ta’heel initiative which was launched by the Authority in 2017, local materials and manufacturers were relied on for most of the project’s work. Materials and elements supplied from local manufacturers included sewage, surface water and rain water drainage pipes, in addition to lighting poles and luminaires. The local Qatari component used on the project has reached 80%.
Further to upgrading the 1.2 km of the main carriageway in both directions and the construction of service roads, the project’s scope of works also included the provision of 304 parking bays in addition to the installation of a new lighting system for the service roads. To encourage a healthy lifestyle, a 2.5 km pedestrian and cycle paths and landscaping works covering over a 2000 square meters were implemented in addition to planting 43 trees. As for the infrastructure services, enhancement works comprised the upgrade of the surface and storm water drainage and the foul sewer networks in addition to protecting electricity and telecommunications services’ lines, upgrading water lines and providing house-connections. The road was also equipped by directional signs.
The Public Works Authority is working on finishing remaining landscaping works alongsidethe road. Upgrade of Al Jazira Al Arabiya Street is part of a series of projects implemented by “Ashghal” in order to improve the road network across the country.
أعلنت هيئة الأشغال العامة “أشغال” عن اكتمال تنفيذ الأعمال الرئيسية لتطوير شارع الجزيرة العربية بطول 1.2 كيلومتر مع إنشاء شوارع خدمية جديدة وفتحه أمام الحركة المرورية، وذلك ضمن أعمال مشروع تحسين الطرق في مناطق متعددة في الدوحة الكبرى – المرحلة الخامسة.
وفي هذا الإطار، أشار المهندس علي سامي جمال، مهندس المشروع بإدارة مشروعات الطرق في “أشغال” إلى الدور الاستراتيجي الذي يلعبه شارع الجزيرة العربية، وذلك لاتصاله بشارع 22 فبراير وشارع جاسم بن حمد وشارع أحمد بن علي وهي من أهم الطرق الشريانية التي تشهد كثافة مرورية عالية وتسهل الربط بمختلف أرجاء مدينة الدوحة. كما أنه يساهم في ربط العديد من المناطق الحيوية والسكنية المجاورة له مثل مناطق لبديع ووادي السيل ومدينة خليفة وفريج بن عمران، فضلاً عن تسهيله الوصول إلى عدّة محلات تجارية ومراكز خدمية وتعليمية وصحية.
وصرّح المهندس جمال بأن الانتهاء من تنفيذ أعمال الطريق قد ساهم بشكل كبير في تحسين الحركة المرورية وتخفيض الازدحام المروري في المنطقة، حيث أن المشروع قد عمِل على تعزيز القدرة الاستيعابية للشارع وتطويره بالإضافة إلى تطوير المداخل والمخارج التي تربط الشارع بالطرق المحيطة به وتوفير طرق خدمية جديدة.
وقد أشار المهندس علي سامي جمال إلى أنه في سياق دعم هيئة الأشغال العامة للمصنعين المحليين ومبادرة تأهيل التي أطلقتها الهيئة في عام 2017، فقد تم الاعتماد على مواد ومصنعين محليين في أغلب أعمال المشروع. حيث تم الاعتماد على المصادر المحلية القطرية لتوريد مواد وعناصر مثل أنابيب الصرف الصحي وصرف المياه السطحية ومياه الأمطار بالإضافة إلى أعمدة ومصابيح الإنارة. وقد وصلت نسبة المكون المحلي إلى 80% من أعمال المشروع.
وتضمنت أعمال التطوير بالمشروع أعمال الرصف لتطوير الطريق الرئيسي بطول 1.2 كيلومتر بكل اتجاه وإنشاء طرق خدمية جديدة، وتوفير 304 موقف مخصص للسيارات، وتركيب أنظمة إنارة جديدة للشوارع الخدمية، بالإضافة إلى أعمال التشجير والتجميل التي تغطي مساحة 2000 متر مربع من المسطحات الخضراء وزراعة 43 شجرة جديدة، فضلاً عن إنشاء مسار مشترك مخصص للمشاة والدراجات الهوائية بطول 2.5 كيلومتر للتشجيع على نمط حياة صحي. كما تم ضمن نطاق المشروع تطوير شبكة صرف المياه السطحية ومياه الأمطار، وتطوير خطوط الصرف الصحي، بالإضافة إلى حماية تمديدات كهرماء واوريدو وتطوير خطوط الماء وتوصيل هذه الخدمات إلى المنازل، بالإضافة الى تركيب اللوحات الإرشادية الخاصة بالطريق.
وتواصل الهيئة استكمال أعمال التجميل بشكل عام على جانبي الطريق. ويندرج مشروع تطوير شارع الجزيرة العربية ضمن سلسة المشاريع التي تنفذها “أشغال” لتحسين شبكة الطرق في جميع أنحاء الدولة.
