Food aid for 7,062 Rohingya families

Doha: As part of its ongoing relief efforts, Qatar Charity has distributed food baskets, gas cylinders and stoves to thousands of Rohingya families on Bhasan Char Island (a remote island in the Gulf of Bengal) in Bangladesh. The food baskets that were distributed included basic food items (rice, legumes, oil, salt, sugar and dried fish), benefiting 2,500 families, while gas cylinders and stoves were distributed to 4,562 families in light of a fuel crisis in the region.
Relief items were distributed by the relief team of Qatar Charitable Office in Dhaka, the capital, in the presence of local officials, with the aim of alleviating the suffering of Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh by distributing basic food to reduce their suffering, and taking care of vulnerable people such as the elderly, widows and other poor and needy people.
Qatar Charity gives special priority to food, due to the basic need for it, particularly under the circumstances imposed by the Coronavirus pandemic.
Local officials praised the giving of philanthropists in Qatar and the efforts of Qatar Charity in distributing foodstuffs and gas cylinders to Rohingya refugee families living on this remote island, expressing their hope that this support will continue.
Especially since the refugees are facing harsh conditions due to suffering from asylum and the damage caused by the Coronavirus pandemic crisis. The refugees expressed their happiness with the relief aid provided by Qatar Charity, which contributed to meeting their essential needs.
Fatima, 30, said the food she received from Qatar charity is enough for her family for a month, thanking Qatar’s philanthropists for standing by refugees in crisis.
Suleiman, a 55-year-old refugee, said: “Qatar Charity is a humanitarian organization that frequently provides food to refugees and provides them with the necessary sustenance.
“We get food from Qatar Charity to help us live in dignity” said Shahida, a refugee, she appealed to all good people to provide mosquito nets, health care facilities and educational homes for their children because they desperately need it.
Qatar Charity has distributed emergency relief assistance to 4,000 Rohingya refugees affected by last March’s fire in Cox.

الدوحة: في إطار جهودها الإغاثيّة المتواصلة قامت قطر الخيرية بتوزيع السلال الغذائية وأسطوانات ومواقد الغاز على آلاف الأسر من لاجئي الروهينجا في جزيرة بهاسان شار (جزيرة نائية في خليج البنجال) ببنجلاديش، واشتملت السلال الغذائيّة التي تمّ توزيعها على المواد التموينية الأساسية «الأرز والبقوليات والزيت والملح والسكر والأسماك المجففة»، واستفاد منها 2500 أسرة، فيما تم توزيع أسطوانات الغاز والمواقد على 4562 أسرة في ظل أزمة وقود تشهدها المنطقة.
وقد قام بتوزيع المواد الإغاثيّة الفريق الإغاثي لمكتب قطر الخيرية في العاصمة دكا بحضور المسؤولين المحليين، بهدف تخفيف معاناة لاجئي الروهينجا في بنجلاديش من خلال توزيع المواد الغذائية الأساسية للحدّ من مُعاناتهم، والاعتناء بالشرائح الضعيفة كالمُسنين والأرامل وغيرهم من الفقراء والمحتاجين، حيث تمنح قطر الخيرية أولوية خاصة لمجال الغذاء، وذلك بسبب الحاجة الماسّة إليه، لا سيما في ظل الظروف التي فرضتها جائحة كورونا.
وأشاد المسؤولون المحليون بعطاء أهل الخير في قطر وبجهود قطر الخيرية في توزيع المواد الغذائية وأسطوانات الغاز على أسر الروهينجا اللاجئة التي تعيش في هذه الجزيرة النائية، مُعربين عن أملهم في استمرار هذا الدعم، خاصة أن اللاجئين يواجهون ظروفًا قاسية جراء معاناة اللجوء والأضرار التي خلفتها أزمة جائحة كورونا. وعبّر اللاجئون عن سعادتهم بالمُساعدات الإغاثية التي تقدمها قطر الخيرية التي ساهمت في تلبية احتياجاتهم الضرورية، حيث قالت «فاطمة» البالغة من العمر 30 عامًا: إن المواد الغذائية التي تلقتها من قطر الخيرية تكفي أسرتها لمدة شهر كامل، مُعربة عن شكرها لمُحسني دولة قطر على وقوفهم إلى جانب اللاجئين عند الأزمات.
بينما قال سليمان، وهو لاجئ يبلغ من العمر 55 عامًا: تعتبر قطر الخيرية من المنظمات الإنسانية التي تقدّم المواد الغذائيّة للاجئين بشكل متكرّر وتوفّر لهم قوتهم الضروري. ومن جهتها قالت اللاجئة شهيدة: نحصل من قطر الخيرية على المواد الغذائية وهي تساعدنا على العيش بكرامة، وناشدت كل أهل الخير بضرورة توفير الناموسيات ومرافق الرعاية الصحية ودور التعليم لأبنائهم لأنهم بحاجة ماسّة لذلك.
يُذكر أن قطر الخيرية قامت بتوزيع مساعدات إغاثية طارئة لـ 4000 لاجئ روهينجي من المُتضرّرين من الحريق الذي شبّ في مارس الماضي بمنطقة كوكس.
