Conference on Conflict in Yemen Opens

Doha: A conference entitled “Conflict in Yemen: The Current Scene and Probing the Future” , which is being held by the Center for Conflict Studies and Humanitarian Action at the Doha Institute for Graduate Studies started today in cooperation with the Arab Center Washington DC and the Deep Roots Foundation, which specializes in political and economic issues. and development in Yemen.

The two-day conference brings together a number of local and international researchers and experts to discuss the most pressing issues related to the conflict in Yemen and the post-conflict phase, to enhance efforts made or to be made in peacemaking, recovery, reconstruction and development.

Representatives of the organizing bodies stressed the importance of this academic conference and its timing in light of the current developments in Yemen to monitor and understand the latest analyzes on the Yemeni crisis and the path of the peace process in the country.

On the first day of the conference, US Special Envoy for Yemen Tim Lenderking and a representative of the Yemeni government gave speeches, in addition to the participation of a group of researchers, specialists and those interested in the Yemeni issue.

The conference is scheduled to focused discussions on peace opportunities in Yemen, and future challenges in this regard.

الدوحة: بدأت أعمال مؤتمر “النزاع في اليمن: المشهد الحالي وسَبْر المستقبل”، الذي يعقده مركز دراسات النزاع والعمل الإنساني بمعهد الدوحة للدراسات العليا بالتعاون مع كل من /المركز العربي – واشنطن دي سي/، ومؤسسة ديب روت، المتخصصة في قضايا السياسة والاقتصاد والتنمية في اليمن.

ويجمع المؤتمر على مدى يومين عددا من الباحثين والخبراء المحليين والدوليين لمناقشة القضايا الأكثر إلحاحا فيما يخص القضايا المتعلقة بالنزاع في اليمن، ومرحلة ما بعد النزاع، لتعزيز الجهود المبذولة أو التي ستبذل في صنع السلام، والتعافي وإعادة الإعمار والتنمية.

وأكد ممثلون عن الجهات المنظمة، على أهمية هذا المؤتمر الأكاديمي وأهمية توقيته في ظل التطورات الراهنة في اليمن لرصد وفهم آخر التحليلات حول الأزمة اليمنية ومسار عملية السلام في البلاد.

وتحدث في اليوم الأول للمؤتمر السيد تيموثي ليندر كينغ المبعوث الأمريكي الخاص إلى اليمن، وممثل عن الحكومة اليمنية، إضافة إلى مشاركات لمجموعة من الباحثين والمتخصصين والمهتمين بالشأن اليمني.

ومن المقرر أن يناقش المؤتمر بالتركيز فرص السلام في اليمن، والتحديات المستقبلية على هذا الصعيد.
