Meteor Shower to Be Seen in Qatar

You can check off ‘witness meteor shower’ from the bucket list as the annual spectacle will take place in Qatar on the 12 and 13 of August and this year it’s expected to be the best yet, thanks to the new moon.

The Perseid's meteor shower will be seen 11pm 12 Aug to 4:30am 13 Aug and NASA will be live-streaming it from their website here so if you’re unable to watch the show for real, you definitely can’t miss it.

The Perseid's have been observed for 2,000 years and every year, the Earth passes through a cloud of the comet’s orbital debris which consists of ice and dust, which was created hundreds of years ago. It’s expected that there will be 80 meteors per hour under clear skies so get ready for all night entertainment and grab the picnic blanket and some snacks.

If you’re new to meteor-gazing, make sure you’re far from city lights and ditch the binoculars and telescopes as your view will be restricted so you will likely miss the sights. Make sure to look in the north easterly direction and you should be seeing one every few minutes.
