Blue Moon to appear over Qatar next Saturday

Doha: The Qatari Calendar House announced that the month of Rabi al-Awwal for this year will reach the full moon on the evening of Saturday, Rabi’a al-Awwal 14th,1442 AH, corresponding to October 31st. 2020 CE, at 5:49 pm Doha local time.
Dr. Bashir Marzouq (the astronomer at the Qatari Calendar House) stated that astronomers call the second full moon that occurs during one calendar month (the blue moon). Note that the full moon of the month of Rabi al-Awwal 1442 AH is the second full moon during the month of October 2020 AD, while the full moon of the month of Safar this year reached the status of a full moon during the early hours of Friday, October 2nd.
The full moon is considered one of the most important lunar houses. It occurs once every Hijri month, and it occurs once or twice at most during the Gregorian month, because it is normal for a full moon to be completed once every Gregorian month, but sometimes a full moon is completed twice in one calendar month, and the second full moon is called the “blue moon.”
Dr. Bashir Marzouq added that the residents of the State of Qatar can enjoy seeing and following the phenomenon of the blue moon with the naked eye, or by using modern digital cameras to obtain images of the blue moon from Saturday evening until sunrise on Sunday. Note that the full moon will rise above the eastern horizon of the sky of the State of Qatar on Saturday evening at 4:59 pm, while it will set from the sky of the State of Qatar at 6:09 am on Sunday, Doha time.

الدوحة: أعلنت دار التقويم القطري أن قمر شهر ربيع الأول لهذا العام سوف يصل إلى منزلة البدر مساء يوم السبت 14 من شهر ربيع الأول 1442هـ، الموافق 31 من أكتوبر 2020م، وذلك عند الساعة 5:49 مساءً بتوقيت الدوحة المحلي.
وذكر الدكتور بشير مرزوق (الخبير الفلكي بدار التقويم القطري) أن علماء الفلك يطلقون على البدر الثاني الذي يحدث خلال شهر ميلادي واحد اسم (القمر الأزرق)؛ علمًا بأن بدر شهر ربيع الأول 1442هـ هو البدر الثاني خلال شهر أكتوبر 2020م، فيما وصل بدر شهر صفر لهذا العام إلى منزلة البدر خلال الساعات الأولى من يوم الجمعة 2 أكتوبر الماضي.
وتعتبر منزلة البدر من أهم المنازل القمرية؛ إذ يحدث مرة واحدة كل شهر هجري، ويحدث مرة واحدة أو مرتين على الأكثر خلال الشهر الميلادي، لأنه من الطبيعي أن يكتمل البدر مرة كل شهر ميلادي، ولكن أحيانًا يكتمل البدر مرتين في شهر ميلادي واحد، ويسمى البدر الثاني بـ “القمر الأزرق”.
وأضاف الدكتور بشير مرزوق أن سكان دولة قطر يمكنهم الاستمتاع برؤية ومتابعة ظاهرة القمر الأزرق بالعين المجردة أو باستخدام الكاميرات الرقمية الحديثة للحصول على صور للقمر الأزرق من مساء السبت حتى شروق شمس الأحد؛ علمًا بأن البدر سوف يشرق أعلى الأفق الشرقي لسماء دولة قطر مساء السبت عند الساعة 4:59 مساءً، بينما سيغرب عن سماء دولة قطر عند الساعة 6:09 من صباح الأحد بتوقيت الدوحة.
